Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 7, 2025
Compass Capture collects no data. We have no servers, no analytics, and no accounts. Everything stays on your device.
What the App Accesses
Compass Capture requests access to the following device capabilities to function:
- Camera — to display the live viewfinder and capture photos.
- Location (When In Use) — to determine your GPS coordinates and compass heading. The app works without location access; heading and coordinates will simply not appear.
- Photo Library (Add Only) — to save captured photos to your camera roll. The app cannot read or browse your existing photos.
- Motion Sensors — to measure device tilt angle via the accelerometer. No permission prompt is required for this.
What We Collect
Nothing. Compass Capture does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting services, and no third-party SDKs.
Where Your Data Goes
Nowhere. All sensor data (heading, tilt, coordinates) is used in real time on your device to render the HUD overlay. When you capture a photo, the HUD is baked directly onto the image and saved to your local photo library. No data is sent to any server at any point.
Third-Party Services
Compass Capture uses Apple's MapKit framework to display the mini-map overlay. When the map is visible, map tile data is fetched from Apple's servers under Apple's Privacy Policy. No personally identifiable information is sent by the app — MapKit handles its own network requests as part of iOS.
Children's Privacy
Compass Capture does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app contains no in-app purchases, advertising, or social features.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Since the app collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
